Why Ovasjon?
From 2012 to 2022, Ovasjon has provided a simple and down-to-earth offer to 1410 persons who want to make a living from their art. Of these, 70% are women. After participating in the program, each participant has an average revenue per employee of 67 000€, measured against the average for independent artists of 37 000*. The program has also spread to Sweden, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic and South Africa.
Due to changes in the support for creative industries, the programme is without central funding from 2023. This means that 100s of applicants are without an offer.
We want to keep the program going and are starting the first cohorts in may 2023.
The Program
The proposed programme extends over 8 weeks and consists of 16 digital sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. The content is focusing on entrepreneurship topics. The program will not include specifically artistic subjects. The program will have two gatherings per week, starting with a session where the participants get to know each other and get an introduction to the method. After that, 15 sessions will be held, of which 3 will have content specifically aimed at the relevant subsector (1) Music, 2) Film, TV, Games and Design and 3) Visual Arts, Literature, Performing Arts, Fashion and Architecture). The entrepreneurship sprint is rounded off with the participants presenting their project and the plan for further development and discussing the way forward. Individual follow-up of all participants is done during the program.
The sessions follow reverse classroom and project- and group-based learning principles. This means that each session follows a three-way approach: First, a "roundtable" (about 20-30 minutes) where each participant gets to address what has happened since the last session and share specific learning points and challenges that they have experienced when they have gone through video support and literature, as well as work done in the EMS to develop their project.
Then the facilitator elaborates on the current academic topic, emphasising interaction and discussion (about 30 minutes). Finally, two participants present their projects and receive input from the cohorts (approx. 30-40 minutes). The last minutes of each session is spent clarifying questions and informing what will be prepared for the next session. To ensure that all participants are active and engaged in the discussions, there will be maximum 15 participating projects in each cohort.
Recruitment of participants – participation in recruitment pool for entrepreneurs
Good recruitment work is essential to secure motivated applicants who will work hard to develop their projects. This, in turn, leads to better-functioning cohorts that provide more significant benefits and more substantial and lasting networks among the participants. We are in the fortunate situation that we already have access to a large number of well-qualified candidates and that we have a proven method for digital marketing and recruitment.
